Lush, tropical forests are also in abundance and Praslin is home to Vallée de Mai, the UNESCO World Heritage Site that has been compared to the biblical Garden of Eden. Many species of fauna and flora that are endemic to the Seychelles are found in this national park, such as the Black Parrot and the Coco-de-Mer palm, which has the world’s heaviest nut at 18 kilograms!

Praslin only has a few small villages and a few thousand people living on it.
The island has a strong tradition of hospitality, and whilst the majority of locals work in the beautiful hotels and resorts that attract visitors, the rest make their living from fishing the azure waters.
There is still much to see and explore on this island that is best known for its breath-taking beaches:- Black Pearl of Seychelles offers the joint attractions of the Giant Clam Farm, the Pearl Farm and the Black Pearl Shop, where one can buy exotic high-class jewellery
- Café des Arts is considered one of Praslin’s most stylish restaurants and also shelters a reputable art gallery
- Curieuse Marine National Park and Ilé Coco Marine National Park are neighbouring islands which offer fantastic shallow-water scuba diving as well as snorkelling
